If you didn't instagram your St. Patrick's Day desserts in front of the green Chicago River, did you really even eat them?
I don't know for sure, so we'd better not chance it. 😄
I've seen a LOT of St. Patrick's Day desserts over the past few days, so I thought I'd compile a quick list to help you track them down. Here it is - my list of the best Chicago St. Patrick's Day desserts.
I hope you like this list! As always, if you do, please pin & share it. Thanks! <3Erin
Chicago St. Patrick's Day Desserts
1. XO Marshmallow
XO Marshmallow is one of the first St. Patrick's Day desserts I saw on instagram this year, and thus one of my inspirations for writing this list.
They have a Green River Mint Lemonade topped with their own marshmallow creme, a rainbow Airheads Xtreme, and some gold coin sprinkles. YUM!!!
Psst! XO Marshmallow is on another guide of mine, here: Gourmet Food Gift Ideas.
2. Firecakes
Firecakes always has great holiday donuts - especially for St. Patrick's Day each year.
This year, they have a pistachio and Guinness-infused chocolate donut, because of course they do.
Remember how cold it was last year? I basically froze my hand off getting a shot their donut in front of the green river (now the cover image of this post).
If you do the same this year, be sure to tag me in your pic!
3. Stan's Donuts
Speaking of green donuts, Stan's has got one, too.
It's called the Green River donut, and it's actually made with local Green River soda -- which is pretty cool.
Psst! Stan's Donuts appears on another guide of mine: Best of the Best at Chicago Gourmet 2017.
4. Public House
A list of the best St. Patrick's Day desserts has got to include this milkshake.
Public House's monthly themed milkshakes are jaw-droppingly epic. They're something you never knew you needed until they're placed right in front of you.
Their version for March, the Patty Cake Shake, has a slice of cake blended in and ANOTHER slice of green-and-white marbled cake on top.
Be sure to bring a friend to split it... or to snap your photo, at least. 🍦🍰🌈
5. Bodega
Bodega is another spot with regular themed desserts.
Right now, they have green Lucky Churros that are covered in Lucky Charms (of course).
Yum!
6. Beacon Tavern
Like the last 2 spots, Beacon Tavern's downtown location makes it an easy spot to warm up (with a milkshake? 😄) after seeing the river on Saturday.
They're offering a Guinness Cake & Shake: stout cake layered with cream cheese and paired with a mini mint shake.
Psst! Beacon Tavern is also listed on my favorite guide: 14 Hidden Restaurants in Chicago.
7. Toni Patisserie
Another spot where you can get St. Patrick's Day desserts right downtown is Toni Patisserie in the Loop.
They have a bunch of cute cookies in their lineup for St Pat's.
Just look at these little shamrock and rainbow beauties!
8. DMK
Behold, the Shammy Shake from DMK Burger Bar.
It's mint-flavored, with mint ice cream, mint leaves, and Lucky Charms mixed throughout.
9. Taylor Gourmet
Here's a fun collab between two great spots: Taylor Gourmet (where these cookies are being sold) and Sweet Mandy B's.
It's the Confetti Cookie ShamWich -- made with confetti cookies, rolled in shamrock sprinkles, and filled with mint Oreo buttercream.
Note: it's only available March 15-17 at Taylor Gourmet (and not available at Sweet Mandy B's, FYI).
10. Big Fat Cookie
Omg, my mouth is watering just LOOKING at this cookie.
It's the Mint Madness from Big Fat Cookie and it's available at Lakeview Kitchen and Market.
Note: they're not open every day, so be sure to check their hours before you go!
11. MAD Social
MAD Social has done it again -- this time, with a stacked St. Pat's dessert.
It's the Mad Lucky Churro Waffle Irish Coffee Gelato Sandwich, and everything on it is made in-house.
And it's delicious, according to Always Hungry Chi.
12. 90 Miles
If you're seeking more of a Cuban St. Patrick's Day vibe, head over to 90 Miles Cuban Cafe for their mint chocolate shake with a mint Oreo on top.
Thanks for the rec, Best Food Alex!
13. Portillo's
Portillo's is known for their chocolate cake shakes all year long.
But in March, they're known for their mint chocolate shakes -- available now through March 31.
Thank you to @natrosehill for the recommendation. 💚
14. Bennison's Bakery
If you're looking for a suburbs spot for your St. Patrick's Day desserts, here's one option for you.
Look at these chocolate-covered pound cake shamrocks from Bennison's Bakery in Evanston. They're so cute!!
They have the most adorable leprechaun and green beer cookies, too.
