Over the weekend, I found myself thinking about how many super cheap, super useful gadgets I have in my kitchen.
Cheap gadgets that I actually use.
So I've built a list for you: 20 Super Useful Kitchen Gadgets Under $15.
I own almost everything on this list, and use it all regularly. I hope you find something useful for your kitchen!
If you like my list of kitchen gadgets under $15, please pin & share it.
Thanks! -Erin
Super Useful Kitchen Gadgets Under $15
1. Tomato Knife
My tomato knife was actually the inspiration for this list. It's only $8 and it cuts through tomatoes 1000 times better than a regular knife.
It cuts right through the skin, so you don't squish the tomato or risk having the knife slip. I'm not typically one for a uni-tool, but this knife deserves its spot in my knife drawer.
Plus, I eat a lot of tomatoes.

2. Silicone Spatulas
Soft spatulas are the BEST for making scrambled eggs, hands down.
And they're currently on sale, which puts them under $15.

3. Zester
I use my zester for a lot more than just zesting.
It's great for tasks like finely grating cheeses (more surface area = fluffier shredded cheese! I do this a lot when making scrambled eggs).
I also use it for things like mincing garlic straight into a pan (instead of using a garlic press). My mom taught me that one. π

4. Pizza Cutter Wheel
Here's one of my absolute FAVORITE Chicago life tips: if you order deep dish for delivery, ask for it uncut - it'll keep the cheese from wilting before it arrives.
Once it gets there, use this pizza cutter wheel to cut it yourself. It's super sharp and cuts through pizza really well - plus it's designed to protect your fingers while you cut.

5. Tablet/Phone Holder
If you're like me and pull up recipes on your iPad or phone while cooking, this device is super helpful for keeping it upright.
And when you're done, it folds up flat so you can put it in a drawer.

6. Bamboo Cutting Boards
I love these bamboo cutting boards because they're super thin/lightweight but also durable. Sometimes I just want to chop something up quickly, and I don't want to pull out a big heavy cutting board to do so.

7. Cutting Board Covers
These aren't the most glamorous item on the list, but they're SO HELPFUL.
I like to put one of these over a big cutting board, so I can just wash the cover and not have to pull the big board into the sink and wash it (or have the juices from the meat I'm preparing seep into the wood of the cutting board).
If you're preparing a few things that you want to keep separate, like raw meat and veggies, you can also use different covers for each!

8. Vegetable Peelers
This 3-piece set covers your basic needs: a julienne peeler, a swivel peeler, and a serrated peeler.
I mostly use the julienne peeler -- it's great for making zoodles without a spiralizer. The others come in handy every once in a while -- for example, the serrated peeler is good for peeling something slippery.
If you're just getting started in building your kitchen, this'll give you 3 kitchen gadgets under $15!

9. Stainless Steel Odor Absorber
If you cook with garlic and don't want your hands to smell like it for the rest of your life, this little bar "soap" is your friend. Your friends will thank you!

10. Wine Aerator
This is my favorite wine aerator because it fits right into the neck of the bottle and you otherwise pour normally (unlike the other variations, where you have to pour the wine through a separate piece).
Aerators are great for making cheap wine taste better. If we open a random bottle of red, it is 100% going through the aerator. Do your own taste test -- it really makes a difference.
They're also meant for quickly aerating a nicer bottle if you don't have time to let it sit in a decanter before you drink it. But I find myself using it in the previous situation much more frequently. π

11. Vacu Vin Wine Saver
This little gadget is truly a life saver for any time you don't finish a full bottle of wine (what? does that happen to people? lol).
Of course this is on my list of kitchen gadgets under $15 -- it's one of my favorite tools ever.
You use the little pump to suck the air out of the bottle and seal it, which keeps the wine good for days longer than if you just re-cork it. It's a game changer!

12. Stainless Steel Straws
I've written about these before (in my kitchen registry guide last year), because they're one of the best things that $1 can buy.
I use a metal straw daily for my iced coffee, and I also love serving them in frozen cocktails.
They're reusable -- so they're WAY better than a plastic straw -- and they also come with a little cleaner tool you can use to clean the inside.

13. Stainless Steel Cocktail Picks
While we're talking about stainless steel cocktail accessories, here's another one I love.
These cocktail picks are great for garnishing drinks -- and making you look fancier than you really are.

14. Sphere Ice Molds
These make a great gift because they're they type of thing a lot of people appreciate, probably don't already have, and probably wouldn't think to buy for themselves.
They're also a great gift for YOURSELF. And if you get in the habit of filling them right back up after you use them, you'll always have cool ice for your cocktails.
Cheers!

15. Marble Spoon Holder
If you don't have a spoon holder, buy this right now.
Life -- and cooking cleanup! -- is so much better when you have ONE place to rest your messy spoons while cooking. And this marble option is super cute.

16. Pineapple Trivet
While we're talking about functional pretty things, here's a pineapple trivet that's currently on sale from Williams-Sonoma.
It's pretty much the cutest way to protect your countertops from hot pans.

17. Splatter Guard
This will save you, your clothes, and your stovetop from splatter when cooking in oil. It's a pretty small price to pay for not burning your face off. π

18. Silicone Baking Mat
Use these silicone baking mats in any recipe where you'd typically use parchment paper. They're great for baking AND better for the environment.

19. Cake Carrier
You definitely DON'T need a cake carrier... until you do.
Have you ever baked a cake and then realized that you had no way to transport it to your event? Especially if you're living in a city and planning to take a cab?
When I was 23, I carried a HUGE cake from Manhattan to Hoboken on St. Patrick's Day on the most crowded subway of all time -- in a cardboard box. Never again.

20. Avocado Saver
To be fair: if you don't already have one of these, you're about 10 years overdue. But I use mine several times a week, so I feel like it belongs on this list of kitchen gadgets under $15. And it's only $6!
If you don't already know: the pit of an avocado helps preserve freshness and keep it from turning brown (this is why you sometimes see the pit IN a bowl of guacamole at a party). So when you slice it, use the side without the pit first, and store the side with the pit with the saver.
This little device in the fridge will help keep your avo fresh for ~a day longer.
